About The Author
Jamie Taylor
Raised in contradictory households, Jamie Taylor developed a passion for writing and escaping to new worlds through the written word. She enjoys reading, exploring nature, and taking on any adventure, dangerous or crazy enough to be considered fun. With an insatiable curiosity, Jamie strives to open herself up to all people and encourage them to follow their hearts and do the same, hopeful that one day people can truly learn the freedom found in acceptance and love, opposed to the self-imposed chains of conformity.
Reading and writing became a life-long love for her after becoming a main tactic to escape from the struggles within her own life and disappear into fantastical worlds. Though it is a private affair, she absolutely adores singing. In more social settings she most joyously engages in hiking, camping, SCA events, white water rafting, jet skiing, and countless other outdoor activities that can be dangerous, however are far too fun to not engage in when opportunity knocks. Although she takes pleasure in many aspects of life, there is one she has long loathed: the conformity forced upon people by society and themselves all in a mistaken assumption that acceptance shall be offered, though it never is.
Greatly influenced by her very unconventional upbringing, her parents played a grand role in whom she became, from a flower child Hell’s Angel mother to an authoritative father, she experienced a large range of experiences from early ages. Repeatedly bouncing between their households and others as she grew, she often felt trapped as she attempted to please everyone. However through her attempts, she realised she was truly pleasing no one and her spirit was suffering. Writing as an outlet for her own issues she realises the importance of it, for she does not wish for any others to feel as trapped as she has throughout different stages of her life.
“People need to know that just because they are not ‘normal’ it does not mean they deserve to be ostracised, beaten, or feel like there is anything wrong with them. Gods know I was never ‘normal’ and I have only ever been happy when embracing myself as I am peculiarities and all.”
